NHRC Takes Action on Woman's Burning in Uttar Pradesh

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India has taken suo motu cognizance of a reported incident where a woman was burned alive in Farrukhabad district, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on September 6, 2025, when the victim was attacked while out to buy medicine for her daughter. The NHRC has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh, demanding a detailed report within two weeks, including actions taken against the perpetrators and any compensation for the victim's family.
