No National Policy for Women's Safety at Tourist Destinations: Ministry of Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism has clarified there is no national policy planned to ensure women's safety at tourist destinations. Although safety and security of tourists fall under state jurisdiction, the ministry has been working with various state governments and Union Territories (UTs) to establish dedicated tourist police forces. A Multi-Lingual Tourist Helpline has also been launched to assist travelers in India. States have been encouraged to use the Nirbhaya Fund to enhance women's safety across tourism destinations. The Ministry of Home Affairs has also supported states with financial assistance to set up Women Help Desks to make police interactions more accessible to women.
