No New Flood Management Projects for Andhra Pradesh
The Ministry of Jal Shakti, through Minister of State Raj Bhushan Choudhary, disclosed in a Rajya Sabha session that no new flood management projects in Andhra Pradesh are currently poised for funding. This announcement follows a study by the Central Water Commission and ISRO that revealed significant issues of waterlogging and salt-affected soils in the region. Despite the serious need for flood management indicated by the vulnerability of the Budameru Diversion channel, Andhra Pradesh has not yet submitted any proposals under the Flood Management Programme, which offers substantial central assistance to eligible states.
