NRAA Celebrates Major Milestone in Wild Rice Conservation in Assam

The National Rainfed Area Authority (NRAA) under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has made significant strides in the conservation of wild rice genetic resources in Assam. Since 2022, the project titled "In-situ Conservation and Management of Wild Rice (Oryza rufipogon)" has been implemented by the ICAR–National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources in collaboration with the Assam State Biodiversity Board. The Borjuli site in Sonitpur District has been recognized as a Biodiversity Heritage Site, marking a crucial step in preserving India's wild rice diversity and enhancing climate-resilient agriculture.
