Nuclear Energy Contribution and Future Plans in India
The Department of Atomic Energy reports that nuclear energy contributes approximately 3% to India's total electricity generation, with plans to increase this share significantly. The current nuclear power capacity of 8780 MW is set to rise to 22380 MW, with a long-term goal of achieving 100 GW by 2047. Ongoing projects include the construction of four reactors in Tamil Nadu and a Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam.
