The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has approved over 1.4 lakh food processing projects under various schemes to enhance food processing infrastructure and support rural economies. Key initiatives include the Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI), and the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme. Notably, Kushinagar has been identified as a Banana Cluster with 261 projects sanctioned under the PMFME scheme, aimed at reducing post-harvest losses and increasing farmers' income.
