Over Rs. 284 Crores Released for Rural Local Bodies in Northeast India
The Union Government has allocated over Rs. 284 crores as the first installment of the Fifteenth Finance Commission (XV FC) Untied Grants to strengthen rural local bodies in Mizoram, Odisha, and Tripura for the financial year 2025-26. Mizoram receives Rs. 14.2761 crores for 827 Village Councils, Odisha gets Rs. 240.8149 crores for 6,085 Gram Panchayats and 63 Block Panchayats, while Tripura is allocated Rs. 29.75 crores for various local bodies. These grants are aimed at addressing location-specific needs and improving basic services in rural areas.
