Parliament Discusses Climate Change's Impact on Indian Weather Patterns

The Ministry of Earth Sciences has highlighted significant changes in weather cycles across India due to climate change. A comprehensive report documents an increase in surface air and sea temperatures over the last century. These temperature shifts have intensified weather extremes, such as heavy rainfall, droughts, and cyclonic activity, particularly affecting regions like Central India, northern India, and coastal areas. In response, the Government has launched several initiatives, including the National Action Plan on Climate Change, to mitigate these effects and enhance climate resilience infrastructure. The India Meteorological Department has developed tools like the "Climate Hazard & Vulnerability Atlas of India" to aid in identifying high-risk areas for better disaster preparedness.
