Performance of National Livestock Mission

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying is implementing the National Livestock Mission - Entrepreneurship Development Programme (NLM-EDP), providing a 50% capital subsidy for rural poultry ventures. From FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26, 208 projects have been approved, generating 1,201 jobs. The initiative also includes livestock insurance to protect farmers against animal loss, covering various livestock types. Over five years, Rs.135.32 Cr. has been released, insuring 55.86 lakh animals. Production data shows growth in meat, egg, and goat milk from FY 2019-20 to FY 2023-24.
