Performance Review of Legal Services Authorities in India
The Ministry of Law and Justice has released its report on the performance of State Legal Services Authorities (SLSAs) in India, highlighting the number of individuals benefitted through free legal services over the past three financial years. The report also details the efforts by NALSA to monitor and enhance the effectiveness of these authorities through various meetings, reviews, and awareness programmes. The NALSA (JAGRITI) Scheme aims to increase legal awareness at the grassroots level with the integration of local self-government institutions. Between 2023 and October 2025, there were over 10 million beneficiaries through the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, showcasing the extensive reach and impact of these services across the country. Additionally, legal awareness efforts successfully reached millions, with specific programmes tailored to vulnerable groups.
