PLI Auto Scheme: Boosting India's Automotive Industry

The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the Automobile and Auto Components Industry has approved 82 applicants as of November 30, 2025. The scheme, with a budgetary outlay of ₹25,938 crore, has already disbursed Rs. 1,350.83 crore in incentives to five applicants. The program aims to enhance domestic manufacturing of Advanced Automotive Technology products and foster investment in the automotive value chain. With targets for eligible sales set at Rs. 2,31,500 crore by March 2028, significant progress has been made with sales achieving Rs. 32,879 crore by September 2025. The scheme supports increased EV adoption with an emphasis on localizing the EV value chain through Domestic Value Addition requirements.
