PLISFPI to Boost Millet-Based Food Processing in India
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is advancing the use of millets with the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for the Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI), dedicating a substantial Rs. 800 crores to millet-based products. Running from FY 2021-22 to FY 2026-27, this initiative, aligned with the International Year of Millets, aims to enhance millet adoption in food, incentivize production, and bolster export capacity. Under this scheme, 29 applicants have been sanctioned across 45 locations in India. Furthermore, BHARATI, an initiative launched by APEDA, supports agritech startups, driving innovation and export opportunities for young entrepreneurs. Millet-based units can also leverage benefits from other MoFPI schemes like PMFME and PMKSY.
