PM CARES Scholarship Scheme Supports COVID-19 Orphaned Children
The Indian government has launched the "Scholarship for PM CARES Children" to aid orphaned children affected by COVID-19. The scheme, administered by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, provides an annual stipend of ₹20,000 per child, split into a monthly amount and an academic yearly allowance. The scholarship supports educational expenses from Class 1 to Class 12 and is distributed through Direct Benefit Transfer across India. Since 2022, over 13,000 children have benefited from the program.
