PM e-DRIVE and PLI Schemes to Boost Electric Vehicle Adoption in India
The Indian government has launched the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme with an outlay of Rs.10,900 crore to promote electric vehicle (EV) adoption through subsidies for consumers and incentives for manufacturers. The scheme allocates Rs.3,679 crore for subsidies on e-2Ws, e-3Ws, e-ambulances, and e-trucks, along with funds for e-buses and EV charging stations. The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme further supports domestic manufacturing of advanced automotive technologies and components, aiming for a minimum Domestic Value Addition of 50%.
