PMFME Scheme Boosts India's Micro Food Processing Sector

The Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme has shown significant progress since its inception, with numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of micro-food processing enterprises. As of October 31, 2025, the program has sanctioned 1,62,744 loans for credit-linked subsidies, approved seed capital for 3,65,935 SHG members, and supported the establishment of 101 common infrastructure facilities. Financial year contributions from the Centre have steadily increased, with Rs. 1142.56 crores released in 2024-25. The Ministry has conducted extensive awareness campaigns to promote the scheme and support technical innovations, capacity building, and market linkages for micro-enterprises. The scheme aims to formalize the unorganized segment of this industry, ensuring increased competitiveness and sustainability.
