PMMSY Initiative for Women in Fisheries Sector
The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) aims to promote women's participation in the fisheries sector by providing financial assistance of up to 60% of project costs for women beneficiaries. Over the last five years, the scheme has sanctioned Rs. 4061.96 crore for 99,018 women across various states, supporting activities like fish farming and processing. The Maharashtra government has also implemented training programs and outreach initiatives to enhance women's involvement in fisheries.
