The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, under the leadership of Union Minister of State Shri. Durgadas Uikey, has been implementing the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission since 2021. This mission aims to promote tribal entrepreneurship and improve livelihood opportunities by supporting the establishment of over 4,172 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras across India. These initiatives are supported with financial assistance to bolster tribal enterprises and ensure fair market access through the Minimum Support Price system for Minor Forest Produce. Additionally, the ministry is investing in infrastructure to enhance value addition and reduce tribal produce wastage. As of now, operational VDVKs have reported significant sales, showcasing the effectiveness of the mission in enhancing tribal economic participation.
