Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana Focuses on New Fisheries Clusters

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in India has notified 34 new fisheries clusters under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) to bolster the fisheries sector through a cluster-based approach. This initiative, started in 2020-21 with an investment of Rs.20,750 crore, is aimed at enhancing sector competitiveness, addressing value chain gaps, and encouraging private sector involvement. Multiple schemes and funds such as the Blue Revolution and Fisheries & Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund support this holistic development plan.
