Preservation and Restoration of Ancient Monuments in India

The Ministry of Culture oversees the conservation and maintenance of 3685 centrally protected monuments in India, managed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA) and Zonal Cultural Centres (ZCCs) are involved in documenting and promoting Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) through various programs. The ASI also emphasizes accessibility for persons with disabilities and has implemented measures to prevent the illicit trafficking of cultural property. Recent efforts include collaboration with educational institutions to integrate performing arts into school curricula.
