President of India Honors Graduates of the Footwear Design and Development Institute
On December 1, 2025, the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, awarded certificates to over 500 graduates of the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) during a ceremony in New Delhi. The event highlighted India’s significant role in global footwear production and the potential for increased exports as graduates start their own businesses. Union Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized the importance of connecting with local artisans and exploring untapped market opportunities, while advocating for high ethical standards and the embrace of Swadeshi principles to bolster India's Atmanirbhar initiative. He also noted the vital role of women’s leadership within FDDI, with women constituting over 70% of the students. The ceremony concluded with a call to action for graduates to support India's economic progress towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
