Production Linked Incentive Schemes for Automotive and Battery Storage in India

The Indian Ministry of Heavy Industries has announced details on the progress of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes for the automotive industry and Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage. As of September 2025, the PLI Auto scheme has attracted investments totaling ₹35,657 crore and generated ₹32,879 crore in sales with 48,974 jobs created. The PLI-ACC scheme has awarded 40 GWh of battery capacity to four firms, achieving a cumulative investment of ₹2,878 crore and creating 1,118 jobs. These schemes are flexible, allowing companies to establish manufacturing units anywhere across India based on strategic needs and resource availability.
