Progress and Achievements Under the PLI Scheme for Food Processing Industries

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has approved 169 applications under the Production Linked Incentive scheme for Food Processing Industries (PLISFPI), with a total investment of Rs. 9207 crore to date. Around ₹2,162.55 crore in incentives have been disbursed, creating a processing capacity of 35 lakh metric tonnes and generating 3.39 lakh jobs. The scheme aims to promote Indian food brands internationally, reimbursing up to 50% of expenditures on branding. The Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI) Limited manages proposal evaluations and claims, ensuring compliance with pre-set criteria to qualify for incentives. Exports have increased by a CAGR of 13.23% from 2019–20 to 2024–25.
