Progress in Cleaning of Yamuna River
The Ministry of Jal Shakti reports ongoing efforts to clean the Yamuna River, with monthly monitoring of water quality at key locations in Delhi. Despite a sewage generation of 3,596 million litres per day, only 2,955 MLD is treated, leaving 641 MLD untreated. Inspections of Grossly Polluting Industries revealed non-compliance issues. Under the Namami Gange Programme, nine projects have been completed to enhance sewage treatment capacity by 1,268 MLD. Financial assistance is being provided to various states to combat pollution in the river.
