Progress in Rehabilitating Children Engaged in Begging in India
The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment reports that since the beginning of its dedicated scheme in October 2023, 2,653 children engaged in begging have been rehabilitated. This involves reuniting children with families, and connecting them to educational and welfare resources. No new laws are needed at this time due to the ongoing efforts from existing schemes.
