Progress of Hydro Pumped Storage Projects in India

The Government of India has implemented various initiatives to advance hydro pumped storage projects (PSPs), including budgetary support for infrastructure, revised guidelines for project reports, and waivers on transmission charges. As of June 30, 2025, 10 PSPs with a capacity of 6.2 GW are operational, 8 are under construction, and 46 are in the survey phase, totaling a potential capacity of 64.8 GW.
