Progress on Smart Meter Installation Under RDSS

The Government of India, under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), has achieved significant progress in the installation of smart meters across various States and Union Territories. As of December 2025, 3.9 crore smart meters had been installed under RDSS, contributing to the overall installation of 5.28 crore smart meters nationwide. These smart meters enable advanced revenue collection and enhanced operational efficiency for distribution utilities, contributing to a reduction in AT&C losses from 21.91% in FY2021 to 15.04% in FY2025. Consumer feedback and advanced security measures are also prioritized under this initiative.
