Progress Report on India's Har Ghar Jal Yojana

The Government of India is successfully implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) under the Har Ghar Jal Yojana, aiming to provide tap water supply to every rural household by 2028. As of November 2025, approximately 81.34% of the targeted 19.36 crore rural households have received tap water connections. The mission, initially covering only 16.7% of rural households, has seen significant investments, nearly utilizing a central outlay of ₹2,08,652 crore from a planned ₹3,60,000 crore. With promising progress, an extension of the mission until December 2028 has been proposed.
