Project Cheetah marks a historic conservation milestone with India's successful translocation of cheetahs from Namibia and South Africa. Initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the release of eight cheetahs in September 2022, India's ambitious rewilding project aims to restore ecological balance by reintroducing the Asiatic cheetah, extinct in India since 1952.
