Rabi Crop Sowing Shows Significant Growth as of January 2026

The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has reported an 18.24 lakh hectare increase in rabi crop area compared to the previous year as of January 2026. Noteworthy is the rise in pulses area by 3.61 lakh hectares, with gram showing a substantial increase of 4.66 lakh hectares. The total rabi crop coverage now stands at 660.48 lakh hectares, indicating steady progress. Significant gains are seen across wheat, rice, pulses, coarse cereals, and oilseeds.
