Railways Rationalises Basic Fare for Passenger Train Services
The Ministry of Railways has announced a rationalisation of basic fares for passenger train services effective from July 1, 2025. Key changes include no fare increase for distances up to 500 km, a Rs.5 increase for distances from 501 to 1500 km, Rs.10 for 1501 to 2500 km, and Rs.15 for 2501 to 3000 km. The fare structure remains unchanged for suburban services and ancillary charges. The revised fares will apply to tickets booked after the effective date, with prior tickets remaining valid at existing rates.
