The Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), initiated in December 2014, aims to develop and conserve indigenous cattle breeds, enhance milk production, and improve the genetic quality of bovines in India. Key components include a nationwide artificial insemination program, sex-sorted semen technology, and the establishment of IVF laboratories. The mission has significantly increased bovine productivity and milk production, with a total outlay of ₹3,400 crore for the period 2021-2026. Recent revisions to the mission include new initiatives for heifer rearing and interest subvention for farmers.
