Ratlam–Nagda Rail Line Project to Boost Connectivity and Economy
The Ministry of Railways has announced the approval of the Ratlam–Nagda Third and Fourth Rail Line Project, aimed at easing rail congestion and enhancing connectivity from hinterland to ports. The ₹1,018 crore project will cover a 41.4 km section, significantly reducing line capacity utilization and improving freight movement to major ports. It is expected to save 38 crore kg of CO₂ and 7.5 crore liters of diesel in the first year, while also generating employment and boosting tourism in Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, three new train services will be launched to meet rising passenger demand, and preparations for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2028 are underway.
