The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying reports significant reductions in post-harvest losses in India's fisheries sector, down to 9.16% in 2023-24, due to improved infrastructure under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). This advancement is supported by high-resolution, geo-tagged data aiding targeted infrastructure development and policy planning. Additionally, efforts are underway to transform 100 Coastal Fishermen Villages into climate-resilient communities, with support from the National Fisheries Development Board. This initiative aims to enhance economic opportunities and sustainability for India's coastal fishermen.
