Reform and Modernisation Advances at Archaeological Survey of India

The Ministry of Culture has implemented significant improvements at the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for the year. The staff in the Excavation Branches has increased from 86 to 102, following regular recruitment processes. Additionally, modern technologies such as LiDAR, GIS, and drones are employed in studying and documenting ancient sites. Measures to manage encroachments on protected sites are also strengthened, including the use of eviction notices under relevant legal frameworks. Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, shared this update in a written statement to the Rajya Sabha.
