Release of Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2025 Highlights India's Dominance in Dairy and Livestock Sector

On National Milk Day 2025, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying released the 'Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2025' publication featuring comprehensive data and trends in the livestock and dairy sectors. Covering production estimates for milk, eggs, meat, and wool based on the Integrated Sample Survey (ISS) for 2024-25, the report underscores India's global leadership in milk production, achieving a total of 247.87 million tonnes. The report also highlights significant increases in per capita availability of these major livestock products, with India ranking second in egg production and fourth in meat production worldwide. Key states contributing to these outputs include Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh, among others.
