Replica of Ashoka Pillar Unveiled in Waskaduwa, Sri Lanka
On July 21, 2025, a replica of the Ashoka Pillar was unveiled at the Waskaduwa Sri Subhuthi Viharaya in Sri Lanka, commemorating Emperor Ashoka's contributions to Buddhism in the country. The event was attended by dignitaries including the Indian High Commissioner and various Buddhist leaders. The project was sponsored by H.E. Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and aims to strengthen cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka, with additional support from the Indian government for Buddhist initiatives.
