Reservoir Storage Monitoring System Enhances Water Resource Management
The Ministry of Jal Shakti's Central Water Commission (CWC) has implemented the Reservoir Storage Monitoring System (RSMS) to monitor the live storage capacity of 161 key reservoirs across India. Introduced in 2012, RSMS allows project authorities to directly input data, streamlining the process of data collection and analysis. Weekly bulletins are generated and shared with stakeholders, aiding in better planning for irrigation, drinking water, and flood control. The cumulative live storage capacity of these reservoirs is 182.46 BCM, supporting informed decision-making and drought preparedness.
