Revamp of Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS)

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has revamped the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) starting January 2025 to enhance the estimation of employment and unemployment indicators. The new design aims to provide monthly estimates for key indicators like Labour Force Participation Rate, Worker Population Ratio, and Unemployment Rate for both rural and urban areas. Additionally, it extends quarterly results to rural areas and increases the sample size significantly to improve the reliability of labour market estimates.
