Revamped Swadesh Darshan 2.0 Scheme To Boost Tourism in North East India
The Ministry of Tourism in India has revamped its Swadesh Darshan scheme, now termed Swadesh Darshan 2.0, to focus on sustainable and responsible tourism destination development. This initiative includes increased financial support through the Challenge Based Destination Development sub-scheme for States and Union Territories, including the North Eastern States. The government aims to develop iconic tourist centers and promote tourism in tribal areas, including the introduction of a new initiative called 'Development of Homestays in Tribal Areas.' Projects under previous schemes such as PRASHAD for enhancing pilgrimage sites and the SASCI scheme for capital investment are continuing to receive support, with new projects sanctioned across the country.
