Review of Groundwater Action Plan by Ministry of Jal Shakti
The Ministry of Jal Shakti has reviewed the groundwater situation in India, revealing that 96.7% of monitored wells in Kashmir and 96% in Bengaluru are below 10 meters. A Model Bill for groundwater regulation has been adopted by 21 states, and the Central Ground Water Authority is enforcing strict regulations. Various initiatives like Jal Shakti Abhiyan and Atal Bhujal Yojana are being implemented to promote sustainable groundwater management and conservation across the country.
