Revision of Base Year for Economic Indicators

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is revising the base year for Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Index Industrial Production (IIP), and Consumer Price Index (CPI) to better reflect structural changes in the economy. The proposed new base year for GDP and IIP is 2022-23, while for CPI it is 2024. The revision includes updated methodologies and data sources, with insights from recent surveys on corporate investment and the services sector.
