Revocation of Grid Access for Renewable Energy Projects Due to Developer Delays

Since 2022, the Central Transmission Utility of India Limited (CTUIL) has revoked grid connectivity for renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 6,343 MW due to repeated delays by developers. This action is part of the ongoing efforts to meet India's target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based power generation by 2030. While 259 GW is already connected to the grid, additional transmission systems are under construction or bidding to support this goal. The revocations, spread across states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat, highlight issues such as failure to meet project milestones, land document submission, financial closures, and achieving the Commercial Operation Date (COD).
