Sagarmala Project Bolsters India's Maritime Trade Competence

The Sagarmala project, a major initiative by the Indian Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, has significantly enhanced India's maritime trade through strategic investments. By focusing on five key sectors—port modernization, port connectivity, port-led industrialization, coastal community development, and coastal shipping & inland water transport—the project has completed 22 key projects to date, raising coastal cargo handling by 6.5 million tonnes. With continued funding, the initiative aims to further support India's EXIM trade, benefit coastal communities, and achieve the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 goals.
