Scaling Up Coir Production: Minister's Review
Union Minister of State for MSME, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, emphasized the need to enhance coir and by-products production during her review of R&D activities at the Central Institute of Coir Technology in Bengaluru. She highlighted the underutilization of coconut husk and the growing demand for coco peat, urging for new applications in horticulture and carbon extraction. The Minister called for collaboration with technical institutions and the systematic transfer of technologies to farmers and entrepreneurs. She also inaugurated an ECO Lab for quality assurance in the sector.
