Scientists Advance Clean Hydrogen Production Catalysts

Researchers at the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences in Bengaluru have developed a novel method to enhance the catalytic activity of coordination polymers (COPs) used in hydrogen production through water electrolysis. By employing argon plasma treatment, they generated coordinatively unsaturated metal sites (CUMSs) which significantly improved oxygen evolution reaction (OER) performance without altering COP bulk structure. This development promises a cost-effective and efficient approach to producing clean hydrogen, contributing to sustainable energy solutions.
