Second Dolphin Estimation Survey Launched in India
The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has commenced a comprehensive survey for estimating riverine and estuarine dolphin populations in India. This initiative, under Project Dolphin, follows a protocol set during a wildlife week in Dehradun and covers major water systems such as the Ganga, Brahmaputra, and Sundarbans, including new regions for the Irrawaddy dolphin. The survey aims to gather scientific data for improved conservation strategies.
