Significant Progress in India’s National Programme for Control of Non-Communicable Diseases

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reports screening over 40 crore individuals for hypertension and nearly 41 crore for diabetes under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases. The programme, part of the National Health Mission, aims at reducing non-communicable diseases, focusing on diabetes, hypertension, and common cancers. Over 8.73 crore women were screened for cervical cancer, leading to over 93,000 diagnoses. Significant resources have been allocated for early diagnosis and treatment, with thousands of clinics and cardiac care units established nationwide.
