SMFCL Launches as India's First Maritime NBFC

Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited (SMFCL) has begun its operations as India's pioneering maritime-focused Non-Banking Financial Company. It aims to rejuvenate the country's maritime finance ecosystem by targeting a loan book of ₹8,000 crore by FY 2026 and has sanctioned loans amounting to ₹4,300 crore already. The initiative, backed by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, marks a significant advancement in India's maritime infrastructure, aligning with PM Narendra Modi's vision of a developed national financial architecture for maritime growth.
