Standardization of EV Manufacturing and Charging in India

The Ministry of Heavy Industries has announced the formulation of various Indian Standards for E-Mobility by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). These standards cover electric power trains and EV charging infrastructure, ensuring safety and interoperability. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has notified automotive industry standards, while the Ministry of Power has issued guidelines for EV charging infrastructure. To promote domestic manufacturing of EVs, the Ministry has launched several schemes including PLI-Auto, PLI-ACC, and SPMEPCI, aimed at enhancing local production and value addition.
