State-Led Computerization Drives Progress of PACS in Telangana
The state of Telangana has taken significant steps in strengthening its Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) by implementing a state-led computerization project. Unlike the national scheme, 830 PACS in Telangana have been included in the local digital initiative, enhancing operational efficiency. The non-credit business turnover, including paddy procurement and fertilizer and seed distribution, has reached impressive figures, amounting to Rs. 13,974 crore and Rs. 29,390.37 crore respectively. The Telangana State Cooperative Apex Bank serves as the nodal agency for this initiative, with a total project expenditure of over Rs. 43 crore. To support the integration of PACS software, the state government and NABARD provided financial assistance to establish data centers and improve network connectivity, alongside the regular training facilitated by the Cooperative Training Institute. Union Minister Amit Shah commended these efforts in a recent parliamentary reply.
